Whiteout : “Red on White”
Antarctica: the most isolated landmass on the planet; no official government… Is there any end in sight for comics-inspired movies? Apparently not. Here is yet another, but it’s not exactly a superhero epic like Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Watchmen, etc.
Whiteout is based on the 1998 comic book by Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber. Directed by Dominic Sena (Kalifornia, Swordfish), this action drama stars the lovely Kate Beckinsale (Underworld: Evolution, Shooting Fish, Pearl Harbor) and Gabriel Macht (The Spirit, The Good Sheperd, A Love Song for Bobby Long), who sets the tone with a disturbing declaration to Beckinsale’s character, U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko: “This isn’t just a murder, it;s the first murder ever in Antarctica!” Heavy on action, heavy on thrills and serious chills, Whiteout is a fascinating, must-see whodunit.
