Howard Stern joined America’s Got Talent on Monday night, as you know from the publicity blitz he’s been doing on every NBC outlet except for Betty White’s Off Their Rockers. I think he’s recycled the line about how “these executives at NBC are out of their minds taking a risk on me” during every appearance including this America’s Got Talent. He says this, even as, in the next breath, he tells interviewers he “knows how to behave” on prime-time television. A man as intelligent as Stern must have known that this was a losing strategy: Why would he defuse any promise of surprise, or the blunt humor that’s made him so entertaining?

As it turned out, Stern was, for the most part, perfectly fine, especially when placed beside Sharon Osborne and Howie Mandel — he couldn’t help but deliver better commentary. I had forgotten what a tiresome talent show AGT is, and the way the studio audience never encounters a “dance crew” it doesn’t adore. Even so, I was startled that the judges gave full approval to a lame rapper who offered obsequious rhymes about Stern, Osborne, and Mandel. When Mandel asked the rhythm-impaired fellow, “You don’t pre-write that?” and the contestant responded, “That was 100% off the top of my head,” everyone actually seemed to believe him. It was as though they’d been hypnotized into momentary gullibility.

Granted, much of this stuff is a matter of personal taste — maybe you thought the guy who put a scorpion in his mouth really did deserve to be voted through to the next round, even as I, with my soft spot for ventriloquism, enjoyed the vent who spoke through his live dog. To each his own, to a certain extent. But can we all agree that one of the worst moments this evening came not from the contestants, but from the strenuously phony spontaneous chatter between the judges during the sponsored “Snapple Chat” segment?

I like Howard Stern a lot, but I doubt I’ll be sitting through many more AGTs if he’s going to praise a perfectly nice performance by a charming man who played what he called an “earth harp” by saying, “I made my career out of originality, and I bow to you.” That’s laying it on a bit thick. Stern has long proclaimed his fondness for reality-TV junk, and now he’s putting his body where his mouth is. I can respect that, but I don’t have to keep watching it.

The Gold Rush, the 1925 silent screen comedy, is generally thought to be Charlie Chaplin’s renowned film. Throughout the history of motion pictures, both film critics and viewers have always considered this Chaplin film to be a true Hollywood comedy classic in the silent era.

It tells the storyline of the equally famous and loved Chaplin character ‘The Little Tramp’ (called The Lone Prospector within this film) as he travels to Alaska hoping to take part in the Great Alaska Gold Rush. Instead, as luck and bad weather would have it, he finds himself stranded in a remote backwoods cabin with another gold prospector as well as an escaped fugitive for company.

Eventually, when the weather subsides, ‘The Lone Prospector’ again sets out for any nearby gold-rush community. While there he takes the task of tending another prospectors cabin, and finds himself falling in love with Georgia, a saloon girl, whom he mistakenly assumes loves him as well.

While known as a great comedy, this film is also rich in social satire, drama, and emotional tenderness.

The film features a number of famous scenes that include the Chaplin character preparing Thanksgiving dinner for himself and another stranded and starving prospector by boiling and eating a leather shoe (provided by the American Licorice Company), and its laces as though these were noodles. In another, the cabins occupants scramble to exit as the cabin itself balances dangerously around the fringe of a cliff before falling in to the valley below.

A famous sequence, considered by many people to become one of the most memorable in Chaplin’s career, shows The Lone Prospector entertaining his imaginary New Year’s Eve guests at dinner by piercing two bread rolls with forks and achieving them dance as if these were the legs of the real dancer. This scene was recreated in a 1994 episode of ‘The Simpsons,’ titled ‘Lady Bouvier’s Lover’.

The comedy classic is still being enjoyed by audiences today and ranks as the fifth highest grossing silent film, and also the highest grossing silent film comedy of all-time.

The movie was again released by Chaplin in 1942 with sound narration along with a musical score which were spoken and arranged by Chaplin. Younger crowd tightened the editing to lessen the flicks running time, changed some minor plot points, and removed the kissing scene at the conclusion eliminating a subplot where the character is tricked into believing the Georgia loved him. This re-release would be a huge hit worldwide.

In 1992, The Gold Rush was selected to the National Film Registry, Library of Congress. This motion picture is a must see for anyone interested in a Hollywood comedy classic in the silent era.

Of all the films manufactured in the 20th century, the Sound of Music remains the most popular family musical ever. Its success is worldwide and its legacy continues to grow since the movie’s release is 1965. Documentaries have rhapsodized over its scenery, and composers over the fabulous musical score. My favorite element, however, is the exquisitely beautiful dresses worn by Maria, the Baroness, and the von Trapp daughters. With their heirloom detailing, these dresses speak of the elegance of European styles which aristocratic families might have worn in the “last golden days of the thirties”. However these styles are certainly not only for the upper class of Austria! With today’s interest in vintage clothing, coupled with the film’s increasing popularity, what could be lovelier than recreating some of these fashions for today?

The noise of Music was costumed by Dorothy Jeakins, who would be able to boast a long and successful career when Robert Wise commissioned her to defend myself against this project. When interviewed in the early 1960s, she reportedly noted that while she enjoyed costuming both modern and period films, she far preferred the latter. Based on her masterful designs for the film, there might be no wonder about her statement! Dorothy conducted painstaking research on Austrian garb, even down to the designs utilized on men’s buttons of the day. Julie Andrews, the film’s “Maria”, related that Miss Jeakins’ focus was on making garments as authentic as possible, using lacing and buttons instead of zippers. Julie also says of all the costumes she’s worn during her many years on stage and screen, she never felt more beautiful than in the silk wedding dress Dorothy designed for the Sound of Music.

Besides the glorious bridal gown out of this film, many fans admire the Swarovski crystal embellished evening gowns worn through the Baroness and guests for the party scene. Equally deserving of attention are the costumes which the children wore for this scene. The girls’ dresses were lovely creations of heirloom laces, shirring, pleating, and bows, constructed of fine cottons and silks in muted hues of ivory and pale yellow. Maria’s blue chiffon dress which she wore within the gazebo scene features panels of honeycomb smocking and flutter sleeves. And Brigitta’s dinner dress ensemble made up of mint green dupioni using the contrasting pink shell and piping is nothing lacking spectacular!

Perhaps one of the best-loved costumes in the Sound of Music is the chiffon dress Liesl wore during her famous “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” sequence. Using the gown’s billowy sleeves, twirling skirt, and tiny bows around the ruched bodice, it defines feminine clothing at its finest. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed recreating this beautiful dress using the pattern offered at Edelweiss Patterns, and aspire to have numerous occasions to put on it!

The next time your family watches the noise of Music, pay close attention to the exquisite details of the film’s costumes. You just might be inspired to make a dress yourself!

As we all know that the internet is the world wide connection of computers. Becasue it is innovation, the internet has presented us with different gifts. The internet has provided us with various features helping to provide the connectivity throughout the world. Before the internet, communication from one corner to the other of the world was difficult and the easy electrical communication that people have today only agreed to be an aspiration back then. There have been very few options available for communication in those days. However we’ve emails, efaxes, chats, video and voice messaging, social networks, voips, online applications and many more because of the innovation of the internet. Besides communication the internet has also gifted us with new way to entertain ourselves. One of such new approach to entertainment born due to the internet is the online gaming world.

Online gaming utilizes the connectivity features provided by the internet. Previous, prior to the significant development of the internet, computer gaming was restricted to a single computer or perhaps a small LAN (Local Area Network) based computer network. Such gaming environment merely a limited amount of players could log in and play with other gamers. Multiplayer gaming was a luxury at that time when networks were associated with the aid of cables. Consider an upswing of the internet, a new multiplayer gaming world has emerged which break the wall limiting gamers from competing with other gamers from halfway across the world. Now millions of gamers can enjoy with each other no matter where they’re located as long as they have the game along with a robust web connection. It is true that a high-speed internet connection is required for internet multi-gaming but this is not an inconvenience anymore.

We all know that there are countless gamers who are busy playing Massively [Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games] and competing with each other at the same time. MMORPGs would be the most widely used forms of games and a large area of gamers are busy in such MMORPG fantasy worlds. World of Warcraft and Runescape are types of highly popular MMORPGs. We also can easily see such games and entertainment that are built-into popular social networks like Facebook. Names like Mafia Wars, Farmville, Yoville are quite popular in the top social networks. There are very few of us that has not tried one of those yet or at least it is guaranteed that you will get in invite from friends if you’re a member of such social networks. Even though these are mostly text based games with hardly any graphics they are still massively played. It’s because of these popular reasons that each new game released presently has an online multiplayer option. No matter what the gaming system is (whether it’s an XBOX or perhaps a PlayStation) it comes with an on the internet option. But your personal computer appears like the most preferable device for online gaming.

Since PCs are the most preferable device for online games, most of the games are either built for PC or ported to a personal computer. Referring to more PC online games, there is another huge portion of games which are flash based. Flash is an interactive tool by Adobe and lots of game developers are using it to create games. Such flash based games are small in size, based on a large number of computer configurations, and are widely distributed. The maximum of flash games available on the web are also free of charge. So for a quick break from all other work it’s possible to try flash games online. They might ‘t be the most advanced games but they’re still fun no matter what. They are a good medium to kill some time at hand. Many people play such games from work or school where installing other types of games are not possible.

Hence, the online gaming world is really a separate world where all types of games and consoles get their reach. On the internet is one of the most widely used place where gamers get together for social gaming. So, if a person were to try some digital games, the internet gaming world is the place to be.

Airplane!
I’m going to start with an estimate, “Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?”

Animal House
John Belushi’s exploding zit lowers ever.

Vacation
Too many things to mention for this one, what about “Honky Lips”.

Caddyshack
Chevy Chase and Bill Murray together create comedy movie magic.

Ghostbusters
Only agreed to be talking about this movie a few days ago with some friends, the Stay-Puft Marsh Mellow Man was one mean ghost.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
“Bueller, Bueller, Bueller”. I must have seen this movie 20 times on my small beta max player.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High
The synergy between Spicoli and Mr. Hand, you can’t buy tension like this.

The Big Lebowski
Dude, obviously this movie is on the list, Jeff Bridges is the Dude!

There’s Something About Mary
Probably the Farrelly brothers greatest film, it is in contention with Dumb and Dumber.

Dumb and Dumber
Yep, you guessed it, in contention with There is something About Mary.

Christmas Vacation
I have to say that Eddie chose to make this movie, Clark was great, however it was Eddie who made it a classic.

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective
I almost couldn’t believe someone might be so funny when I saw this, I’d to determine it again and again.

The Jerk
The Jerk made Steve Martin a comedy icon, this movie will be out there.

The Hangover
My most current favorite. This movie had been talked about by everyone I understand before I saw it. So when I personally did view it I knew precisely what these were referring to, Vegas baby! Maybe the good thing – the still pics at the end.

They loved the shows on animals and as time went on they started to enjoy the National Geographic movies about countries, cultures and people around the world. These became favorites, and now using the creation of Life and The world these themes happen to be built upon and us now spends Sunday evenings watching these amazing programs. We love to pop a big bowl of popcorn; we sometimes allow it to be caramel, watching these amazing shows about our planet and the animals the ones that inhabit it.

As children get older it’s increasing difficult to monitor and channel their television and movie viewing. Starting young helps, watching good shows as a family, and making that a secure, fun time to be together likewise helps. Whatever the subject your family enjoys from art to culture, to science, to how situations are made there are interesting shows for many diversity and entertainment. For some time i was watching classics or musicals on Sunday nights, starting with West Side Story, Sound of Music, Ten Commandments, Wizard of Oz, Fiddler on the Roof and others. Some the kids liked others they did not. We also tried a series of other countries film industries; African Movies, Asian Movies and Ballywood movies. You have to do your research before watching these, some aren’t geared for children, yet others are beautiful and artistic.

Kids spend a lot of time watching tv; it’s our obligation as a parent to ensure it’s not all wasted! There are lots of great and wonderful shows to look at after some work on our part.

This is really true if you’re accustomed to buying used games for a certain amount of time. There are several advantages to purchasing used and new games for any console. However, there are certain games and certain times in which you will need to buy a brand new game or perhaps a used game for ps3.

If you are on a budget then you will want to buy used games because they are the least expensive out of the two obviously. For those who have a little more to invest, then you can go for the more expensive route to the most out of your money. Even if you aren’t on a budget, you can buy new games if you’re a fan of a specific game or series like Madden. If you’re not that spectacular about some games but you’re still considering it, then you can wait a while after which have it used to be able to reduce your cost at least by 10 dollars.

Newer games, in my opinion, are for those of you who’re extreme gamers and you’re simply used to a particular game or series of games. If you’re only a general game fan, then you may wish to go out and get used games so that you can make the most from your money and not have to spend lots of money on games that you don’t care much about.

Before then the Japanese animation films referred to as anime movies were known in smaller circles Body only has to consider of the legendary Gundam series – but it would take until just before the modification of the millennium of these popular DVDs and also video games to achieve popularity with each and every segment of the population.

The biggest breakthrough arrived 2001 when anime movies were shown, uncut, on the Adult Swim network. Suddenly the group of followers had a dedicated home and in a short time anime would continue to grow not only the enthusiasm for these animated movies, but also sow a crop of diehard fans that would go to great lengths to obtain anime movies. Purists would go so far as to buy hard to find movies from Japan and other outlets, while the average anime fan would forever search through DVD stores in search of gems commonly overlooked by others.

In a short time, the sale of used anime DVDs made these movies affordable for the younger generation of anime fans with prices that rendered these used movies easy on the pockets of those that still get pocket money using their parents, the push to buy anime used from dedicated stores was great. This movement has evolved to some vibrant Online business that allows aficionados and resellers to sell and buy used anime DVDs and games with the help of the online marketplace.

Novices who are just now finding out about anime are occasionally surprised to learn about the big selection that awaits them at stores. This is especially true when shopping for gifts for teens or tweens totally hooked on certain anime movies. To this end, the best guide to buying used anime movies is designed to give advice and provide some tips on how to choose the perfect anime movies for the children, teens, women and also men on your gift giving list.

Children

o Pokemon is the ultimate in children’s anime entertainment. Specifically “Pokemon 3: The film.” Rated G, it had been released in 2001 and features the epic battle between Ash and Entei. The characters are very well known and also you cannot fail with this film.
o Parents wishing to buy one of the newer anime movies should look for “Pokemon Ranger and also the Temple of the Sea.” Released on DVD in 2007, it’s popular for children in the 7-9 age groups.

Teens

o Rated PG-13 because of its animated violence, “Escaflowne: The Movie” was released in the united states in 2002. It features strong emotions and it has been an anime favorite with both teen guys and gals.
o For the older teen boy who is a hardcore fan of the genre and does not mind Japanese language, “InuYasha the Movie: Swords of an Honorable Ruler” is the surefire anime hit released in 2005. There is a little bit of confusion when it comes to ratings, and even though the movie is usually not rated, Adult Swim attached a TV-14 rating because of the graphic battle scenes.

Women

o Perhaps it is the figure of seven year young Mariemaia, but women simply adore “Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz.” This anime arrived on the scene in the united states in 2000.
o It’s been called somewhat melodramatic, but “Sailor Moon R: The Movie” is a favorite with the ladies. The scourge of the Xenian Flower must be seen to become believed and you’ll do well to consider it when you’re out to buy used anime movies.

Men

o Still little boys at heart, you cannot wrong but purchase the men in your grocery list “Yu-Gi-Oh! The film: Pyramid of sunshine.” Rated PG, this movie features the famous anime battle between Yugi and Kaiba. Released in 2004, it’s still one of the all time favorites of the genre.
o “Ninja Resurrection” is an enigma to the anime lover. It’s sex, blood, gods and demons, but due to a deceptive marketing tactic – those out and about to buy anime movies were led to believe the movie was related in some manner to “Ninja Scroll” – it did not obtain the reception it deserved. For the mature viewer who enjoys anime movies and cares little about the marketing hype, this is a must have.

As you can see, buying used anime movies is of an art by itself and for the true novice the images on the boxes might be deceiving. If you’re buying for children, it is advisable to stick using the known titles and also to have a very close eye on the ratings. Anime movies that aren’t rated are best purchased for teens rather than preteens and younger age groups.

Even though majority of adult anime movies appeal to both men and women, scan the story lines for the dramatic flair of the movie. If interpersonal relationships are highlighted, you may have found a particular winner for a woman. Conversely, when the battle scenes feature in the forefront, it is a fair assumption this movie is geared more toward a mans audience.

Action movies have been in existence for a long time and they do not seem to be going anywhere. In fact, they’re improving constantly! More intense, more realistic and they are drawing more people to the theater and rental boxes than in the past. Why the appeal to these types of movies? Young and old alike, men as well as a good number of women, genuinely enjoy action movies. Take a look at a few reasons why that’s;

Unrealistic Realness

There is little change realism to modern action movies. The fights are choreographed perfectly, the sound clips are booming, the visual effects are stimulating and it’s all so real – only, it’s not real. In fact, some of the events that occur and stunts performed in action movies are near impossible. However, they appear real and that means they are fun to look at. In the past, action movies were less realistic despite the fact that no one took much notice to the insufficient simple effects that may have improved the flicks, today you can watch those films and at least get a good laugh in an actor “flying” across a room being pulled along by obvious strings. That’s much more real than you want to see our action movies to get. Today they may present the unrealistic, but it’s done in a totally realistic way.

Vigorous Violence

Who doesn’t love a good fight? They are best viewed from the safety of a theater seat, not the rear alley of the bar. Plus, those fights don’t pack near as much punch as the ones seen on the big screen as you’re watching action movies. When is the last time you saw a guy bust out Bruce Lee style moves? Or take on a group of guys with no work? Surely, it wasn’t inside your hometown. Though we don’t embrace violence in our society, we love getting our fix of it around the big screen.

Special Effects

Whether we’re watching monumental buildings crumble or witnessing a brutal beating, we value effects. The options appear to be endless when modern effects have been in use. Cars explode, heads smash through car windows, parts of the body are broken – and it is all seen and heard in a way that makes us cringe! Near magical constitute artistry, impressive stunt work and green screen technology usage make up a lot of the bulging budgets of action movies.

Bigger and Than Real Life

Most movies are relatable and that is all well and fine. Who was not for each other? You have, just like the poor saps for the reason that romantic drama. Who hasn’t gotten drunk in Vegas? Definitely not you. Who hasn’t taken out a room full of a major drug kingpin’s finest bad guys while screaming “Say hello to my little friend!”? That’d be most of us. Action movies let us escape from the norm, at least for 90 minutes. Using the real life issues faced today, you can observe why that escape could be appealing.
