A modern day retelling of the classic story The Frog Prince. The Princess and the Frog finds the lives of arrogant, carefree Prince Naveen and hardworking waitress Tiana crossing paths. Prince Naveen is transformed into a frog by a conniving voodoo magician and Tiana, following suit, upon kissing the amphibian royalty. With the help of a trumpet-playing alligator, a Cajun firefly, and an old blind lady who lives in a boat in a tree, Naveen and Tiana must race to break the spell and fulfill their dreams.

Although it pales in comparison to the simply magnificent Up, The Princess and the Frog is like a dream come true for anyone who has ever enjoyed Disney films. All the adventure, music and wonder that made classics out of Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and The Lion King is back and in full form. The trailers predicted the return of a Disney dynasty long thought extinct, and thankfully they were right on the money.

When his brother is killed in battle, paraplegic Marine Jake Sully decides to take his place in a mission on the distant world of Pandora. There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge’s intentions of driving off the native humanoid “Na’vi” in order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate the Na’vi people with the use of an “avatar” identity. While Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand – and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.

It is a beautiful piece of film and a true event. It does exactly what cinema was always intended to – it takes us away from our problems and worries for a few hours and gives us memorable images which will undoubtedly and deservedly enter into the cultural lexicon to stay for the foreseeable future.

Miser Ebenezer Scrooge is awakened on Christmas Eve by spirits who reveal to him his own miserable existence, what opportunities he wasted in his youth, his current cruelties, and the dire fate that awaits him if he does not change his ways. Scrooge is faced with his own story of growing bitterness and meanness, and must decide what his own future will hold: death or redemption.

This film has been labeled by parents as a “Disney Bomb” because it’s too scary for their young children. Parents who take kids to see any movie need to be aware of something:  if it’s rated PG there are likely going to be scenes that your six year old will not enjoy — even if the name Disney is attached to it.

The cutesy versions of A Christmas Carol (The Muppet Christmas Carol and Disney’s own Mickey’s Christmas Carol for example) have little in common with the classic, and sometimes very scary Charles Dickens story. The plot should be familiar to just about anyone who has been alive sometime during the past 150 years, and the fact that there are spirits (ghosts) in the story should also be a red flag to parents. Especially since two of them are downright frightening in just about any version of the story.

Bella Swan is still very much in love with vampire, Edward Cullen. The rest of the vampire coven who call themselves the Cullens, especially Alice, decide to throw Bella a private party for her eighteenth birthday. Things go wrong when Bella slices her finger and thirst overcomes the vampires. As a result of the danger Bella was put through, the Cullen family decide to leave Forks, Washington.

At first Bella exempts herself from all social activities, until she realizes she can coexist with childhood friend, Jacob Black. As usual for Bella, things aren’t what they seem. Something is happening to Jacob that he can’t explain to Bella, and their friendship starts to deteriorate. But when someone from Bella’s past comes back to haunt her, everything will change again.

Okay, this is some trippy, eerie stuff. 2012 is a science-fiction catastrophe/catclysm film directed by Roland Emmerich (The Patriot, Independence Day) and starring John Causack (Say Anything, Con Air) along with Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon), Woody Harelson (Natural Born Killers) and others.

Worldwide upheaval hits hard with gigantic earthquakes, tsunamis and general mayhem. The survivors of each successive disaster struggle to remain alive.

The story is not something dreamed up, but actually an adaption of some frighteningly convincing prophecies inspired by the ancient Mayans’ (and others) predictions of a doomsday event in the year 2012.

Even if you refuse to get caught up in all that Mayan mumbo jumbo, this is still a visually awesome, larger-than -life thriller, and a true blockbuster… literally.

Hyborian Adventures is a massively-multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG) based on the world and works of acclaimed author Robert E. Howard. In Age of Conan, players enter Hyboria with thousands of their friends and enemies to live, fight, and explore the dark and brutal world of King Conan.

Age of Conan takes place within the continent of the Hyborian kingdoms, a year after the events in Howard ‘ s Conan navel, The Hour of the Dragon. The character creation process is very deep and enjoyable. If you loved the creation process of City of Heroes/Villains then you will love this. The PvE content is great at the start with great voice acting until you get past level 20 and it gets worse every level. The combat in Age of Conan takes a different approach from the usual one we find in traditional MMOs. The “Real Combat” system is a first person melee approach in which every enemy has five different areas they can swing at. Combos can be performed by stringing together consecutive successful attacks in particular directions. The crafting system is terrible, there are not a lot of objects that you can make. PvP is sort of unbalanced and it gets boring quite quickly. Some of the content for PvP were not in the realease of the game, as well as content for the main game it self.

Antarctica: the most isolated landmass on the planet; no official government… Is there any end in sight for comics-inspired movies? Apparently not. Here is yet another, but it’s not exactly a superhero epic like Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Watchmen, etc.

Whiteout is based on the 1998 comic book by Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber. Directed by Dominic Sena (Kalifornia, Swordfish), this action drama stars the lovely Kate Beckinsale (Underworld: Evolution, Shooting Fish, Pearl Harbor) and Gabriel Macht (The Spirit, The Good Sheperd, A Love Song for Bobby Long), who sets the tone with a disturbing declaration to Beckinsale’s character, U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko: “This isn’t just a murder, it;s the first murder ever in Antarctica!” Heavy on action, heavy on thrills and serious chills, Whiteout is a fascinating, must-see whodunit.

Michael Jackson may have died shortly before commencing his big global comeback tour entitled “This Is It,” but that doesn’t mean fans can’t still enjoy his magical talent as a new movie, This Is It, is set to theaters soon.

Using hundreds of hours of reherseal footage, Sony Pictures and Sony Music have put together a fascinating final homage to the King of Pop. The director of the project is Kenny Ortega (High School Musical), who has described the movie as, “raw, emotional, moving and powerful footage that captures his interactions with the “This Is It” collaborators that he had personally assembled for this once in a lifetime project. “It’s a limited (two weeks only) worldwide release, currently scheduled to open on October 28, but tickets will be released to the public in late September, so don’t miss out on this slice of pop music history.
